5 Journaling Prompts To Set Yourself Up For 2024
I remember the specific moment I started questioning everything. Before starting Miss Excel, I was working a 9â5 as a consultantâand though the job was good (great, even!), something was amiss. I came home from the office one day and thought: Could I keep doing this forever?
A voice immediately replied: âNope.â
But when I asked myself, âWhat else do you want to do, Kat?â I had zero ideas.
Honestly, I was spending my weeks running around and traveling for work. I didnât have a lot of time for self-reflection.
But in March 2020, everything changed. With travel now out of the question I had a little extra time to reflect: I bought a new journal and started a meditation routine. Slowly, the answers bubbled to the surface.
In Sedona, off of one of our favorite ATV trails :)
I realized I valued creativity, freedom, and helping othersâand that those values werenât being honored in my corporate job. How had I ended up here? Fear. I had a ton of limiting beliefs about what I was (and wasnât) capable of.
This was the epiphany I needed. I started rearranging my life so it was based around my values and passionsâand Miss Excel was born soon after. âŁïž
Now, before every New Year, I journal about where I am in life: my values, priorities, where Iâve been, and where Iâm going. Itâs one of the most important things Iâve ever done for myself.
If you need help getting started, my friend (and amazing coach) gave me these five journaling prompts. Steal âem!
What am I yearning for and why do I believe I canât have it?
How did I feel in this past season of life?
What do I want to be known for?
Describe your perfect day. For 10 minutes, write freely. Nothing is off-limits.
What would you have to do to make that vision of your perfect day a reality?
Sure, journaling might seem simple. But I cannot stress enough how much power there is in intentionally aligning yourself with your values and passions. This is how you carve out the life you want.
Try it out. After all: You have nothing to lose but everything to gain. đ«

Thank you for reading! One last thing Iâll say before closing out 2023: I am so grateful for you and the Miss Excel community. Itâs been awesome seeing you flourish this year and I cannot wait to show you what weâve been working on for 2024. đ€©
