What’s your human design?
And 3 Excel case functions that’ll save your laptop
Hey hey! AI is all the rage these days, but have you ever wondered how to use it to boost your productivity? 🤖 If so, I’m hosting free webinars April 27–29 on how to incorporate AI such as ChatGPT into your toolbox! The webinar will be 50% AI productivity tricks and 50% Excel tips (because it wouldn’t be a Miss Excel webinar without Excel). If you’re interested, you can sign up here.
These Excel Case Functions Are Here To Save Your Laptop
Raise your hand if you sometimes rely on Word to reformat your text in Excel. 🙋♀️
Hey, there’s no shame in that! I remember back in my intern days when I’d have Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and an Excel shortcut sheet browser all on my desktop (the fan on my laptop was fighting for its life 😂).

Chances are, you’re reformatting your text in Excel pretty often. For example, if you’ve ever imported a worksheet, you know Excel can mess up your text, turning it into all caps or all lowercase (pure chaos). Or maybe you just want to use the title case for your quarterly reports so everything is nice and neat for your boss. 🤝
Here are three Excel case functions to help you clean up messy text fast without relying on Word (your laptop will thank you).
1) All Uppercase
To get your text in all uppercase, write in the desired cell =UPPER(TEXT). In our case, that’s A2, meaning our final function is an easy-peasy =UPPER(A2). Then, just copy down so it applies to the rest of your column!
2) All Lowercase
To get text in all lowercase letters, write =LOWER(TEXT). In this example, we’d write =LOWER(F2). Then hit enter and copy down. The function does the rest!
3) Proper
To get your text looking all proper (AKA title case), you’d use the function =PROPER(TEXT). Same as the other functions, hit enter, copy down, and voila.
There you have it! Now there’s no need for you to go over your spreadsheet with a fine-tooth comb. These functions are all over it. 😎
P.S. A reader wanted to know how I create these GIFs! I use a program called Camtasia. It has a bit of a learning curve, but this YouTube video will have you creating GIFs pretty fast. Hope this helps, Matt!
Human Design Types
I started Miss Excel in 2020 as a side hustle to my full-time job. I’d pull long hours, sometimes going from 5 AM to 8 PM straight juggling it all.
Yet when my friends asked how I was pulling it off, I couldn’t give a clear explanation other than I just felt energized. It wasn’t until I found my chart in Human Design that it all made sense.
“Ooookay Kat, but what exactly is Human Design!?”
I can explain! It's a practice that blends The I Ching, Kabbalah, quantum psychics, and more to reveal your genetic design, which helps align you with a path that capitalizes on your innate gifts.
In my case, I’m a generator. Known as “the builders,” generators become energizer bunnies when they’re working on things that light them up. This explained why I was putting so many hours into Miss Excel—I didn’t find the job draining (quite the contrary!).
You might be surprised at how much sense your Human Design chart makes (you can find out your chart here!).
There are five “energy types” in Human Design:
1) Generators. Generators get their energy by responding to their intuition about the things that light them up and tend to do best when they focus on one area. They also love to share their energy with others.
2) Manifestors. These people have deep bursts of energy followed by long rest periods, and are innovative and future-oriented. Most importantly, they’re not afraid to initiate and get things started.
3) Manifesting Generators. Similar to generators, manifesting generators love to use their energy to build and create. Unlike the generator, they’re more of a “jack of all trades.”
4) Projectors. Projectors enjoy guiding others and can observe people on a deep level. This makes them fantastic leaders.
5) Reflectors. With only 1% of the population being reflectors, they’re the rarest! These people absorb and reflect other people’s energy, making them the ultimate truth tellers.
Whether you’re a projector, generator, reflector, or something else, Human Design can help you better understand your unique self and the way you function. And when you better understand yourself, your inner confidence is unparalleled. ✨

If you’re trying to focus but keep finding yourself scrolling social media (your girl has been there) something that helps is to log out of the app.
The next time you hop on to scroll, the simple barrier of entering your email and password is enough to remind you that you don’t really need to be scrolling right now.
Hope this helps! 🤳
