Most People Do This The Hard Way 👀

Imagine you’re in charge of the guest list for a big event. 🎩

But nobody can agree on how a name should look. The security check-in scanner wants everything in all caps. The name badge printer wants proper case. And the RSVP system only recognizes lowercase.

Which means retyping every name three separate times. Fun. 🙃

Except you don’t have to! Excel can do it for you—you just have to ask nicely (aka type a formula 😉).

  • =UPPER( converts to all caps

  • =PROPER(converts to proper case

  • =LOWER( converts to lowercase

Done! Once your first row is formatted, drag the formula down to the whole list. ✨

What I Do When I Want to Grow Miss Excel 🌟

A few months ago, I realized it was time to level things up at Miss Excel. I had big goals—expand the team, create new courses, and map out classes. All good things!

So I did what felt like the mature thing to do: I grinded

I’d skip a workout to squeeze in one more Zoom. I’d stay up late working. I’d then wake up and inject my eyeballs with emails before I’d had tea and sunshine.

Nothing grew. (If anything, I shrank a little 🙃).

Which shouldn’t have surprised me, because I’d already learned this lesson. In 2021, when Miss Excel expanded, it was because I was grounding my nervous system. In other words?

Instead of only working on the business, I was working on me

I’d go on phone-free walks, do breathwork, and dance. Trust me, it felt weird at first. Like, shouldn’t I have been in Canva instead of sitting on a rock to meditate?! 🤣

But your work, whether you’re in a 9-5 or a founder, is an extension of you. And if you’re running on fumes, growth feels impossible.

Another way to see it is you are the garden from which your work grows. And it’s by tending to ourselves first that our work—and everything else in our life—can blossom. 🌱

Thanks for reading! My partner Mike and I just got to Lake George for our annual July 4th trip and we couldn’t be more excited to be here! It’s a little cloudy out, but I’m not mad about it since it’s an excuse to put on a cozy show and get work done in the background (classic Capricorn behavior 😂).

Stay Exceling,

Kat
