Is playing safe costing you?

Hey! One of my first Excel limiting beliefs (we all have ‘em 🙃) was that dashboards were only for “Excel pros.” I thought I needed years of experience to create those auto-updating, promotion-worthy, Picasso-level masterpieces.
But it’s a limiting belief because it’s just not true. Dashboards are actually way easier to build than you think! And in just one hour, I’ll show you exactly how to do it.
I’m hosting a free Excel Dashboards Class that’ll show you how to turn your raw data into easily digestible charts and graphs that tell a compelling story (and impress your boss 😉).

My Favorite Data Chart Tip 📊
Picture this: You’re presenting weekly sales to your team. As you go through row after row of data, everyone’s eyes glaze over—your boss checks their watch, your manager looks out the window, and wait…is your co-worker secretly playing Candy Crush? 🫠
Let’s make this data more visually appealing, shall we? Enter: Sparklines—easy-to-read mini-charts that live inside your cells and help your data come to life.
Here’s how to turn this meeting around and reclaim everyone’s attention →
Step 1) Select your desired cell
Step 2) Press Alt + N + S + L (this is the shortcut for inserting a line chart into your spreadsheet)
Step 3) Select the data (B2:H2) and press Enter
Step 4) Go to Sparklines > Column
Step 5) Drag down to copy for remaining cells
Step 6) Highlight the entire row for each row with a bar chart. Drag down to increase the height of each highlighted row
Done! Now that you’ve got sparklines down, you’re on your way to creating full interactive Excel dashboards that make your data sing. 🎤

“I used to feel nervous about submitting reports to my boss. Now, I’ve built so many templates that I finish a week’s worth of work by Tuesday, then pretend to be busy until Friday.”
That’s what my friend (let’s call her Emily!) told me recently. We all know an Emily—someone who knows their job inside and out but hasn’t felt really challenged in a while.
While this professional autopilot feels harmless, cruising for too long can mean trading years of growth for the comfort of familiarity. So how do you know it’s time for a change? Ex-Uber and Apple engineer Apoorva Govind uses what she calls the Am I Growing Complacent Currently (AIGCC) Test:
Accomplishment: Have I done anything noteworthy in the last three months?
Impact: Would I write a line in my résumé about the work I’ve done over the last three months?
Growth: Have I acquired valuable insights or skills lately? Are these skills aligned with my future goals?
Challenge: Have there been days when I was thinking about a problem so intently that I forgot if I used the soap or not?
Community: Am I excited and happy to go to work every morning and see my teammates?
If you’re answering “Meh, not really…” to most of these questions, you might be in the danger zone. Luckily, you have options—and they don’t have to involve quitting your job!
It could be having an honest conversation with your boss about growth, applying for a new position internally, or starting a side hustle to expand your skill set.
As for Emily? She chatted with her manager and landed a new project—and hasn’t pretended to be busy since. 💥
