Flip Your Data (Without Wasting Any Time)
Have you ever entered data into Excel, only to realize itâd read better if the columns and rows were flipped? Instead of spending eons re-arranging everything manually, try the Transpose feature.
This feature flips columns into rows and vice versa. There are two ways you can use itâkeep reading for the second one, which preserves your formatting:
Method 1
Step 1) In cell A8, type =TRANSPOSE(
Step 2) Select the full array (in our case, thatâs A1:I5) and press Enter. Done!
Method 2
Step 1) Select cell A1 and press CTRL + A (the shortcut to select your entire worksheet).
Step 2) Right-click and click Copy
Step 3) In your home ribbon, go to Paste and then hit Transpose
Boom! Now swapping things around wonât take an entire afternoon. â¨
How I Turned Comparison Into a Strength
Have you ever seen someone share a career milestone on LinkedIn andâthough you want to feel happy for themâyouâre hit with an awful pang of jealousy?
Congratulations, youâre human. đ Weâve all fallen into this trapâI know I have. But with a simple mindset shift, you can turn this negative spiral into a motivator: Itâs time to start seeing people as expanders, not competitors.
To explain, let me tell you about my friend (letâs call her T)!
T had always admired her coworker: She was whip-smart and an Excel wizard. But when T found out that her coworker got a promotion, she felt anxious and defeated.
âIâll just never catch up to her,â T told me. I suggested she ask herself this one simple question:
T realized they had a lot in common: Both had a knack for Excel shortcuts, loved to present in company meetings, and were the officeâs go-to PowerPoint pros. T was now aware of her own skillsâskills sheâd previously only seen in her coworker.
Once T established this common ground, she no longer felt discouraged by her coworkerâs promotion: Instead, she felt inspired: âIf she can do that, I can do it too,â she said.
This is the power of switching from having âcompetitorsâ to âexpanders.â
The next time you catch yourself in a comparison spiral, ask yourself: What do you have in common with that person? When you see a piece of yourself in someone else, youâll see your potential in them, too. â¨
