Save the Intern in 2 Minutes đ
Imagine youâre at the office when you peer over the internâs shoulder and see them doingâŚthis: đ
Oh boy. Letâs show them how to automatically number rows, shall we? Hereâs how itâs done:
Step 1) In your desired cell, type 1
Step 2) With the cell still selected, press Alt + H, F, I, S
Excel Tip: đĄALT + H, F, I, S is the shortcut for the Fill Series dialogue box. It lets you create a series of numbers, dates, and other patterns in a selected range!
Step 3) Select columns
Step 4) Put your Stop Value at 20
Hit Ok and youâre done! The intern can finally relax (and so can you đ).

One Question to Unlock Better Conversations đ
A few years ago, my friend (letâs call her Jen!) had a big interview. Everything was smooth sailing until the hiring manager said, âWeâre looking for an innovative thinker.â
Jen almost launched into a rehearsed pitch about leading creative campaigns in her past roleâsurely that was proof she was innovative, right? But instead, she asked this:
âWhat do you mean by 'innovative thinker?ââ
The hiring managerâs answer surprised her. âSomeone who can analyze how we handle client onboarding and find creative ways to cut the process from months to weeks.â
Whoa. This was very different from Jenâs assumption that âan innovative thinker is someone who spearheads creative projects.â
By asking for clarity, Jen pinpointed exactly what the hiring manager needed and tailored her response. (Spoiler: she got the job! đĽł)
âWhat do you mean by [word]?â is a powerful question. It avoids misunderstandings, helps the other person clarify their thoughts, and sets you up to respond with razor-sharp precision.
Now, I use it all the time:
When a client says they want to âstand out,â I ask: âDo you mean daring and boldâŚor just different from your competitors?â
When a manager mentions âleadership skills,â I ask: âDo you mean managing teams, projects, or something else?â
The best conversations happen when you cut through assumptions and get to the heart of what matters. And it all starts with being brave enough to ask one simple question: âWhat do you mean?â â¨

Thanks for being here! If you had told me three years ago that my job would involve dressing up as Wicked đ§ characters to create Excel content, I would never have believed you. But a few days ago, thatâs exactly what I didâand it might just be my favorite Reel yet!
Stay Exceling,
