My 4 favorite podcasts

Have you been *properly* introduced to Excel?

Happy Thursday! Valentine’s Day is around the corner. It’s one of those holidays people have a love/hate relationship with. But this year, I see Valentine’s Day as a chance to show the people in your life how much you appreciate them—which is why I’m offering a free Excel class from February 17th to 19th as a token of my appreciation. 💘 You’ll learn my top time-saving tips (including a deep dive into VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP) and get lots of other bonuses. Thank you for being here!

Let’s Keep it Proper

There are lots of unspoken texting rules. 🤳

Never reply to a message with “K” (unless you want the person to think you’re mad at them). Avoid using a period at the end of a sentence unless you really need to.

And another big one? Avoid sending a text in all caps. Not only is it harder to read but…WHY ARE WE YELLING?!

All caps are just as jarring when you’re dealing with an Excel sheet. But is it annoying enough that you’re willing to delete the text and rewrite everything in the correct case? 🥲

Luckily, a simple function transforms text with unwanted capitalization into prim and proper capitalization. Let’s learn it—properly!

Step 1: Type the =PROPER( function into the desired cell. This function capitalizes the first letter of each word in a string while converting other letters to lowercase.

Step 2: Type the cell you’d like to convert into your function and close the function. In our case, let’s start with A1, meaning our function would be =PROPER(A1).

Step 3: Click enter, and copy down!

That’s it! But this function isn’t just for all-caps in spreadsheets. You can also implement it in the following use cases:

  • "budget for JANUARY” → “Budget For January"

  • "3-way call” → “3-Way Call"

  • "43InvenTory” → “43Inventory"

Hopefully this tip saves you tons of time. After all, that’s what I’m here for. 🤗

My Top 4 Podcasts

If you had to choose your favorite form of media, what would it be and why would it be podcasts? 🎙

I plugged into a bunch of entrepreneurship and self-help podcasts while building Miss Excel (some of which even ended up interviewing me—a full-circle moment that still blows my mind 🤯).

As Jim Rohn once noted, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Although you can’t grab coffee with Beyoncé or Michelle Obama, podcasts are a solid alternative to surround yourself with positive people.

Here are my top four podcasts. ✨

1️⃣ Expanded Podcast by To Be Magnetic

This podcast is essential learning on all things Law of Attraction, energetics, inner child, and being your authentic self. If you’re curious about how to manifest and live a more “expanded” life, you’ll love this pod.

Fun fact: I subscribed to The Pathway* (To Be Magnetic’s membership) before launching Miss Excel. It was a major help as I learned to break through my limiting beliefs. ❤️

2️⃣ The Goop Podcast by Gwyneth Paltrow and Erica Chidi

Like Expanded, the Goop podcast explores spirituality and well-being. They interview amazing thinkers and culture changers (previous guests include Jay Shetty) on topics ranging from caring for aging parents to setting boundaries and developing self-trust.

3️⃣ The Danny Miranda Show by Danny Miranda

Danny is an old friend from college (go Binghamton!) so I’m a smidge biased, but he’s a phenomenal interviewer. His curiosity shines as he interviews some of the world’s brightest and happiest people. 🤩 Here’s my episode with him.

4️⃣ Boss Babe Podcast by Natalie Ellis and Danielle Canty

If you’ve ever seen a badass woman living her best life and wondered to yourself, “how did she do it,” this is the podcast for you. They interview amazing women to find out how they built their personal brands, made their 💰, and more. Here’s my episode if you’re curious to learn more about how I used social media to scale Miss Excel.

There’s nothing quite as powerful as starting your day by making your bed. 🛏

Sure, it might not seem like a big deal. But starting your morning with an achievement helps set the tone for the day—and can encourage you to accomplish another task (and another, and another…).

Stay Excelent,

Kat
