Raise your vibration

Also, are you still merging cells?

Hey, you! šŸƒ As the days get shorter, Iā€™ve been reading more to slip into that cozy fall feeling. Right now, Iā€™m reading Becoming Supernatural by Joe Dispenza. Iā€™m digging his philosophy of rewiring the brain to become our best selves. Iā€™d love to knowā€”what are you reading right now? šŸ¤“

When You Merge Cells in Your Workbook

Merging cells in Excel is like scrolling Instagram right before bed or using a Q-tip to clean your earsā€”just because you can doesnā€™t mean you should. šŸ§

But the urge to merge is real. Merging cells combines your rows or columns, which is ideal for organizing information and creating headers.

Looks good, right? But the truth is that merged cells are actually big troublemakers, especially if you copy, paste, sort, or move data.

In fact, most Excel pros avoid using them completely! šŸ™…ā€ā™€ļø

Hereā€™s why. Merging cells loses the integrity of the columns and rowsā€”and because many Excel features rely on a consistent grid to function, Excel might bug out if you merge.

For example, letā€™s say we have data from different salespeople at a company. Weā€™re missing the numbers from Daniela, so we merge the cells to separate her information.

But if you try to sort this data from smallest to largest number of sales, you'll get this pesky notification:

Luckily, Center Across Selection is the solution to our merging needs. Hereā€™s how it works. šŸ‘‡

Step 1: Unmerge your cells by selecting the merged cells and clicking the ā€œMerge & Centerā€ command.

Step 2: Select the cells youā€™d like to merge and click the ā€œabā€ icon in your Excel ribbon. Go to ā€œFormat Cell Alignmentā€ in the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Switch from ā€œGeneralā€ to ā€œCenter Across Selectionā€ and click ā€œOK.ā€

And voila! Your cells now look nice and neat (and you didnā€™t have to compromise aesthetics for functionality!). You love to see it.

Just remember that Center Across Selection only works for horizontal cellsā€”so if you have a vertical column you may still need to merge! But heyā€”at least you wonā€™t be that person. šŸ˜…

How To Use an Emotional Guidance Scale

Letā€™s be real.

If youā€™re feeling low, phrases such as ā€œsnap out of itā€ or ā€œbe positiveā€ are the equivalent of downing an espresso after pulling an all-nighterā€”not helpful. ā˜•ļø

Thatā€™s because the leap from a low vibrational space to high vibrational energy is almost impossible. Remember the rope climb in gym class? Well, it's similar to thatā€”thereā€™s no way you can climb to the top in one go (although, I wish!). šŸ§—ā€ā™€ļø

If you want to elevate your mood, youā€™ll need to move up the scale at your own pace.

The scale in question? The Emotional Guidance Scale (EGS), introduced by Esther Hicks in their book Ask and It Is Given

The EGS is a map to lifting your frequency into a higher, more positive state. It lists 22 common emotions and their respective Hz (unit of frequency). At zero, you have grief and depression, while freedom and joy are at the top with 600ā€“900 Hz.

Hereā€™s how youā€™d use the ESG scale: Letā€™s say youā€™re feeling insecure because you spent too much time scrolling Instagram and now wish you had a designer closet (or whatever the influencers are up to these days). šŸ˜…

Youā€™d land right on ā€œInsecurity,ā€ but the rung right above is ā€œJealousy.ā€ So, you try to shift your thoughts fromā€¦

ā€œIā€™m not good enough for those things.ā€ āž”ļø ā€œI deserve those things, too!ā€

Itā€™s a small shift, but you instantly raise your vibrationā€”making it easier to then climb to the rung above and the one above that, again and again, until you reach that feel-good state.

Here are three other ways you can instantly shift your mood:

šŸ¤² Practice gratitude. Each day, think of three things youā€™re grateful for or recite other gratitude affirmations. My favorite: ā€œThis a wonderful day, Iā€™ve never seen this one before,ā€ by Maya Angelou.

šŸ† Create a little win. Whether thatā€™s grabbing a coffee from your favorite shop or texting a friend, find the small thing that will make you happier and act on it.

šŸ–¼ Segment indenting. Envision your ideal day. This will guide your reticular activating system (aka your brainā€™s filter system) to pay attention to the positivity youā€™re looking for.

The EGS helps you raise your frequency, allowing you to manifest faster and channel the energy your goals require. The best part?

It all starts with one simple thing you can do to raise your mood.

Donā€™t underestimate the power of performing actions that make you feel good. Those small steps will take you a lot further than you think. šŸ˜Œ

For each new place, get a tiny perfume or cologne to use during the trip. šŸ’

The brainā€™s olfactory bulb has direct access to the limbic system (which is responsible for emotional memories), meaning scents can capture vivid emotions.

Itā€™s the perfect way to really remember that special trip. āœØ
