Plus: Never lose your active cell again

Hey there! Meet Cindy. She dreads work because when her boss asks her to clean up messy data and create organized spreadsheets in Excel, she has no idea where to begin.

The result? Cindy gets overwhelmed and nervous about her job security

Never Lose Your Cell Again With VBA Macros

WiFi dropping out mid-Zoom call. Forgetting to cancel your subscription after that 30-day free trial. Losing your active cell in a large and complex Excel spreadsheet. Itā€™s the little things that drive us nuts. šŸ™ƒ

While I canā€™t help with those first two, Iā€™ve got you covered for that last one. Hereā€™s how to never lose your active cell in Excel again (with the help of VBA!):

Step 1) Right-click on your sheet tab and select View Code.

Step 2) In the dropdown, select Worksheet. Then, copy and paste the following code:

Cells.Interior.ColorIndex = xlColorIndexNone

Target.EntireColumn.Interior.ColorIndex = 42

Target.EntireRow.Interior.ColorIndex = 43

Target.Interior.ColorIndex = xlColorIndexNone

Step 3) Watch as your rows and columns light up. Your cursor is now a breeze to find!

This tip wonā€™t just save you tons of timeā€”itā€™ll prevent you from the common mistake of entering data in the wrong place because you lost your cursor in the spreadsheet (the worst).

šŸ’” P.S. ā€”Iā€™ll be sharing more game-changing VBA tips in my upcoming Excel class! To sign up, save your seat right here.

What Brownies Taught Me About Confidence

Itā€™s 2016 and Iā€™m on a group skiing trip with Mike, my boyfriend of six months. Weā€™re playing one of those ā€œHow well do you know your partner?ā€ games when someone asks him:

šŸ’¬ ā€œWhatā€™s Katā€™s favorite dessert?ā€

I have no clue what my favorite dessert is. But Mike says, without an ounce of hesitation, ā€œBrownie a la mode.ā€

I donā€™t even know what ā€œbrownie a la modeā€ is. But the sheer amount of confidence this man is exuding had me wondering, ā€œWait, maybe that is my favorite dessertā€¦ā€

This is where I learned the power of saying things with confidence. If it could influence something as silly as dessert preferences, imagine how it could impact the bigger areas of our lives.

So, I started practicing this verbal confidence in micro situations:

  • āžœ I requested a 15% raiseā€”without apologizing or second-guessing myself.

  • āžœ I led a team meetingā€”even though I thought I wasnā€™t ready.

  • āžœ I interviewed for a job at a big-shot companyā€”despite not meeting every qualification.

The habit eventually became second nature. I stopped underplaying what I believed to be trueā€”and even gained the confidence to leave the corporate world to launch Miss Excel!

So hereā€™s my challenge to you: Take a tip from the Mikes of the world and try saying something with full, unquestionable confidence. It could be as simple as reciting your coffee order or telling someone about your job.

It seems insignificant, but those small acts of confidence can add up to some big life changes.

I was featured on the Bossy Podcast with icons Tara Reed and Katie Gatti Tassin! Tune into our episode to learn how to go viral on social media, which top trends to leverage for your business, and how I work just 15 hours a week.

Stay Excelent,
